Director of Finance

A leading Marina/Marine Boat Dealer Group is seeking an accomplished and strategic Head of Finance to join its executive leadership team. This is a senior leadership role designed for a seasoned financial executive who can operate effectively at the intersection of operational finance, corporate governance, capital markets, and regulatory compliance. The parent company is publicly held company.

The Head of Finance will serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and COO, owning the full financial function and providing critical financial leadership to the parent company as a publicly traded company listed on both the Nasdaq and the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). The ideal candidate brings deep experience in public company finance, SEC and Nasdaq regulatory compliance, capital raising, and the operational rigor required to build scalable financial processes within a multi-location retail and service business.

This is not a bookkeeping role. We are looking for a hands-on financial leader who can build processes, lead a team, engage with banks and lending institutions, and represent the Company at the highest financial and regulatory levels.

Role & Reporting Structure

  • Title: Head of Finance
  • Reports directly to: CEO and COO
  • Scope: All business units and locations
  • Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (primary) with travel to additional locations as needed

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic financial partner to the CEO and COO — contributing to business planning, capital allocation, growth strategy, and major operational decisions
  • Own the Company's full financial function, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and treasury operations
  • Build and lead a high-performing accounting and finance team, establishing clear roles, processes, and performance standards
  • Develop and implement scalable financial processes and internal controls across all business units and locations
  • Deliver accurate, timely, and decision-quality financial reporting to executive leadership and the Board on a regular cadence

Public Company Compliance & Regulatory Reporting

  • Own all financial reporting obligations as a publicly traded company listed on Nasdaq and the TSX, including quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) filings with the SEC
  • Ensure full compliance with Nasdaq listing standards and TSX rules, including continued listing requirements, timely disclosure obligations, and corporate governance standards
  • Coordinate with external auditors, legal counsel, and the Board's audit committee to ensure audit readiness and the integrity of all public financial disclosures
  • Oversee and manage SOX-readiness and internal control frameworks appropriate for a publicly traded company
  • Monitor and proactively address Nasdaq and TSX compliance issues, including equity requirements, bid price standards, and shareholder equity thresholds
  • Prepare and review investor communications, earnings releases, and MD&A sections of public filings
  • Liaise with investor relations activities, including shareholder communications and analyst inquiries as needed

Capital Markets, Banking & Financing

  • Develop and maintain relationships with commercial banks, lending institutions, and capital markets partners
  • Lead all efforts to establish, negotiate, and manage credit facilities, revolving lines of credit, and other debt instruments on behalf of the Company
  • Pursue and secure floor plan financing lines for boat inventory — a critical capital requirement for the Company's retail operations — working directly with OEM-affiliated lenders, commercial banks, and specialty marine finance providers
  • Evaluate and execute capital raising strategies including debt, equity, and alternative financing options in coordination with the CEO and Board
  • Monitor covenant compliance across all credit facilities and ensure timely reporting to lenders
  • Support any M&A, strategic transactions, or financing events as required by executive leadership

Operational & Multi-Location Financial Management

  • Build and manage a rigorous budgeting and forecasting process across all 4 Florida locations, marina and departments.
  • Implement financial controls and reporting standards that provide full visibility into departmental P&Ls, including new boat sales, service, parts, fiberglass, tenders, and warranty
  • Partner with department heads and location managers to drive financial accountability, cost discipline, and margin improvement
  • Oversee billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow across all business units — ensuring the Company maintains healthy liquidity and working capital discipline
  • Analyze revenue trends, gross margins, and operating costs across all lines of business and provide actionable insights to leadership
  • Evaluate inventory financing, floor plan utilization rates, and curtailment schedules to optimize working capital

Tax, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance, working with external tax advisors as appropriate
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, and insurance providers
  • Maintain a robust risk management framework, including identification and mitigation of financial, operational, and compliance risks
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment tax, sales tax, and industry-specific regulatory requirements across all operating states

Qualifications & Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred)
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior finance role at a publicly traded company
  • Direct, hands-on experience with SEC reporting, Nasdaq or NYSE listing compliance, and public company audit processes (10-K, 10-Q, SOX)
  • Demonstrated experience building banking relationships and negotiating credit facilities, lines of credit, and/or floor plan financing arrangements
  • Strong command of GAAP accounting, financial statement preparation, and multi-entity consolidation
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop accounting and finance teams from the ground up
  • Track record of implementing financial processes, internal controls, and reporting systems that improve operational visibility and accountability
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills — able to translate complex financial information for executive leadership, boards, investors, and lenders
  • High integrity, strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Preferred

  • MBA or advanced degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Experience in the marine, automotive, powersports, or retail dealership industry
  • Familiarity with floor plan lending practices and OEM-affiliated financing programs
  • Experience with both Nasdaq and TSX dual-listing compliance requirements
  • Prior experience working within or alongside a company with operations in the United States and Canada
  • Experience supporting capital raises, secondary offerings, or debt transactions at the public company level

Position Type

This is a full-time, executive-level position based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will include a competitive base salary, performance-based incentive compensation, and benefits. Details to be discussed during the selection process.
